Insurance Education Fund

Building public understanding of insurance and the rights of policyholders.

The Insurance Education Fund supports public education on insurance — what it is, how it works, and how consumers can use it well and exercise their rights. Better-informed consumers make better decisions and are better protected.

Overview

Many people interact with insurance — motor, life, health, property — without a clear picture of how it works or what protections they have. The Insurance Education Fund finances public education to close that gap.

The Fund is established under the Insurance Act, 2021 (Act 1061) and supervised by the National Insurance Commission.

Objective

To raise public awareness and understanding of insurance, promote financial literacy, and help consumers know their rights and how to seek redress.

An informed public strengthens trust in the insurance market.

Governance

An education committee constituted under the Act sets the Fund's programme of work and oversees the campaigns and materials it supports, within the Commission's supervisory framework.

Activities

The Fund supports public campaigns, educational materials, school and community outreach, and other activities that improve insurance literacy.

Resources produced under the Fund are made available to the public through the Commission's channels.
